Restore Firewire syncing support for new iPod

We, the consumers of Apple products believe that the removal of Firewire syncing support from the new iPod video, was a step backward. Considering that Apple co-developed the Firewire format, it is even more mind-boggling.

With the removal of Firewire support, the iPod loses the function of being a bootable external Hard Drive. With Firewire support lacking and the mandatory use of USB 2.0, it has excluded scores of perfectly good Machintosh Computers, that only have USB 1.1, from syncing with the new iPod video. Many Mac users who have USB 2.o still PREFER to use Firewire for their iPod syncing and charging purposes. It has also been proven that USB 2.0 is somewhat slower compared to FireWire. http://www.digit-life.com/articles/usb20vsfirewire/ In the past, anything that had to do with video transfer, has used a Firewire cable. To transfer video from a video camera to iMovie, you would have to use a Firewire cable, due to the large size of video. Why would the iPod drop Firewire support, especially now with the addition of video viewing?

A possible solution would be to include Firewire syncing support in the next revision of the iPod video.

We thank you for your time and consideration.
