This petition has been created to voice the undeniable outrage and shock that still lingers in the minds of the faithful listeners of HFS. WHFS has been a mainstay in the alternative music scene since its inception in the late sixties. HFS competition may gain from its demise, but DCs other rock station is in no way, a replacement or even a suitable stand-in for HFS.
Of course there is a place (and high demand) for a Spanish language radio station. Its place, however, is not 99.1. If true alternative music is to survive in a time of prepackaged pop, HFS must be there to fuel the fire that will bring this phoenix back from the flames. Alternative music will never die out, as there will always be a need to distance oneself from the sterilized, empty and generic mainstream. We, the undersigned, ask that the Infinity Broadcasting Corporation rethink their decision and the drastic measures taken on January 12, 2005. Infinity, we ask that you bring back the legendary HFS.
