Whereas, Rin Tin Tin was referred to as the mortgage lifter for saving Warner Brothers Pictures from bankruptcy with his talents and adoration by fans. The canine star received more than 10,000 letters from fans each week during the 1920s-1930s.
Whereas, Lee Duncan along with Rin Tin Tin III continued the legacy of the famed canine working diligently to form the first military K-9 Corps during World War II. The pair went on to train some 5,000 dogs for the World War II effort.
Whereas, following the war, Lee Duncan and his Rin Tin Tin IV starred in the popular series The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin which aired 1954-1959 that consisted of 164 episodes and made, through television, Rin Tin Tin the dog every child desired to own.
Whereas, Lee Duncan died September 20, 1960 with his livelong wish being, There Would Always Be A Rin Tin Tin.
Whereas, the legacy of the Rin Tin Tin lineage was passed on just prior to Duncans death to insure that it would be continued for future generations. The current Rin Tin Tin VIII continues the tradition of service to children and community in the paw prints of his ancestors.
Whereas, the heroic deeds of Rin Tin Tin and his owner/trainer Lee Duncan which began in 1918 should be recognized with a postage stamp.
Whereas, we support the consideration and issuance of a United States Postal Service stamp honoring the King of Canines, Rin Tin Tin.
