Everyone attempted to duplicate his style through the years until 1995 when the show's first incarnation ended it's long run. He raised the bar for all competitors that followed, and with the surge of TV talent shows popping up all over, you could see the influence he had on many. We as fans saw it. Constantly saying "They are trying to sound like Sam Harris" or "Adam Lambert reminds me of Sam Harris" or most notable, "Oh no they didn't just try to do 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' like Sam Harris"!
In 2003, the show resurfaced against great comparison to American Idol. A failure, mostly in part to their lack of competent judges. A wide variety of names lacking the talent needed in order to provide a legitimate score for any category. Long time fans of Sam Harris remember his talent in 1983, and know the major success he has had since. Anyone able to watch TV at the time of the first season were watching it for Sam Harris. But it appears Star Search never asked him to be a judge for the new version. It is the most obvious choice to have him as a Judge on this specific show, or at least ask him. As fans, we want to relive his time on the Star Search stage. That was magic. That was talent. He is the Star we were searching for.
Through the years, Sam Harris has released several albums, and began selling millions with Motown Records. He then finally entered his domain of Broadway, and landed many award winning lead roles. We have seen him acting in film and tv, specials, sit-coms, and even some produced and directed. We are major fans for a reason, because he still has it! He has the talent these talent shows lack.
As longtime and many new fans of Sam Harris, we demand Sam Harris be considered as a Judge on the new production of Star Search!
