SAVE JAMES DEAN'S statue at Griffith Park's Observatory! The City of Los Angeles is currently rebuilding the Griffith Observatory, where most of "Rebel wihout a Cause" was filmed, starring James Dean and Sal Mineo. The city has decided to move the legendary statue from the observatory, where it is guarded and protected, and also available for millions of observatory visitors to see. The city plans to move it to a unguarded hiking path near the Hollywood sign, where it is most likely to be subject to being damaged by graffiti, broken and otherwise defaced. www.salmineo.com is working with the man who sculpted this fine piece of art, to preserve it and keep it at Griffith observtory where it belongs. The artist actually sculpted it at James' request while James was still alive, and it was eventually donated to the observatory for tourists and fans to enjoy. PLEASE HELP save this tribute to James and sign the petition so that we may submit this petition to the city of Los Angeles, and hopefully keep the sculpture where it belongs so it will not only be enjoyed by the millions of visitors of the observatory, but to fans of James Dean and Sal Mineo, as well.
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION and ask others to sign this as well! The sculpture has been at the observatory for decades and belongs there!!! It doesn't deserve to be moved to a secluded place where it can be subject to damage and graffiti
