Dear friend of Muirhead Reserve,
SAVE OUR PRECIOUS BUSHLAND FROM THE BULLDOZERS
TAKE ACTION TODAY TO SAVE OUR WILDLIFE
Please help the residents of Leanyer to keep their local neighbourhood beautiful, peaceful and reasonably free of sewage smells.
DHA and Investa want to start bulldozing the trees and wildlife along Fitzmaurice Drive in a matter of weeks if they aren’t stopped. That’s 30 hectares of majestic woodland, home to black cockatoos, finches, lorikeets, magpie geese, kookaburras and many many more amazing species.
The locals are saying loud and clear they want the bushland protected and retained as Muirhead Reserve.
There’s plenty of land further north along Lee Point Road that DHA cleared many years ago where houses can be built. They do not have to clear the bushland.
Also, DHA and Investa are deliberately misleading potential home buyers by not telling them about the sewage smell from Darwins’ largest Leanyer/Sanderson sewage farm that will blow over them and their families for months during the dry season.
Here are five easy things you can do in just 10 minutes to stop the bulldozers.
1. Tell Chief Minister and local Member Paul Henderson you want him to save Muirhead Reserve and that your vote depends on it. He needs to get DHA and Investa to delay their plans while a solution is worked out. Call his electorate office on 89277033 or email him at electorate.wanguri@nt.gov.au, or drop into his office at Hibiscus Shopping Centre.
2. Keep up to date with the campaign by liking Friends of Muirhead Reserve on Facebook.
