Save our Citytv

We the Undersigned respectfully petition CTVglobemedia to approach the Federal Cabinet and Privy Council to request the C.R.T.C. to revisit and restudy their decision regarding CTVglobemedia to sell all five CityTV stations across Canada.

We do realize that the decision from the C.R.T.C. has already been decided and that CTVglobemedia after great consternation agreed to the decision; however, after speaking with the C.R.T.C. Save CityTV creator has learned that a decision can be overturned by a request/application from CTVglobemedia to Cabinet and Privy Council.

Contrary to the decision of the C.R.T.C., for CTVglobemedia to sell off all five CityTV stations, viewers of CityTV do not agree with this decision. We do believe that CTVglobemedia would allow/encourage/enable CityTV to carry on with their programming format as CityTV does cater to completely different demographics than regular CTVglobemedia viewers.

We also believe that by selling CityTV and separating the A channels will change the landscape of this particular medium.

Furthermore, the Public Hearings, which began on April 30, 2007, were unknown to a vast majority of CityTV viewers as these Notices were only broadcasted on CTVglobemedia stations and published in the Canada Gazette. Had the CityTV viewers been informed in a timely fashion, they would have attended those meetings and to make their views known.

Unfortunately, numerous CityTV viewers were only made aware of the decision via a CTVglobemedia Press Release on June 11, 2007.

Therefore, it is our request that CTVglobemedia take action regarding this matter in a timely fashion.
