It has recently come to my attention that the University of California plans on demolishing a building here at the Irvine campus designed by the architect Frank Gehry. This is an outrage! Although the building, the Computer Science and Engineering building, is admittedly not the showiest building Gehry has ever designed, it is still an interesting piece of architecture which clearly has Gehrys signature all over it. It is my opinion that a building by a great architect like Gehry should be cherished by a school. If this building were a Frank Lloyd Wright or a Louis Sullivan no one in their right mind would dare to suggest it be torn down. Simply being able to claim that the school has a Gehry structure is a sign of prestige, and the University of California, Irvine should be flaunting this building to create school pride, not planning its destruction. Please sign this petition to tell the administration that you do not want them to demolish our Frank Gehry.
