We, the members of the Vrgin Gorda community, express our concern at the threatened imminent closure (March 31, 2005) of the Virgin Gorda airport. We ask that the Virgin Islands government acquire * and operate the Virgin Gorda airport. The benefits are significant - keeping and attracting high-end tourists, providing convenient access for residents and tourists alike, and providing a valuable resource for urgent freight and for emergency situations.

We have been lucky enough to own a home on Virgin Gorda for the last 10 years and are very dependent on the airport both to get our renters to the Island and also to provide some peace of mind for medical emergencies. Please don't close this airport!

After a most pleasant extended visit to VG not long ago, we hope to visit again frequently. Without the convenience of the airport or the piece of mind of emergency air evac, I doubt we would choose to visit again, however.
