"The Rat" (or formerly Ratskeller) has been part of the West Chester University of Pennsylvania college scene for several years. When asked about West Chester University hang outs, it is no surprise to see older alumni mention "The Rat" on their list of 'hang-out' establishments. With this in mind, many people are saddened to hear that "The Rat" may be moving from it's current location on High Street as the University or any other number of interested individuals has expressed interest.
This is a petition in request that "The Rat" not be purcahsed or moved as it is considered by many students and alumni of the local college to be a historical landmark of some significance. While it is no longer the multi-floor bar that it may have been in the past, it is still a part of the college experience and to see "The Rat" lose it's original building or no longer exist in it's current state would be a travesty to the social scene at West Chester University.
