We demand the government scrap Voluntary Student Unionism (VSU).
This legislation passed through parliament despite the united opposition of the broader community and the student body.
This legislation threatens the provision of vital services like childcare on campus, the cultural life of the university (e.g. clubs and so cieties, sport) and the ability of students to organise and dissent politically.
Many student organisations have already collapsed, and many more are at risk.
We call on the government to commit to scrapping VSU in 2008 and to commit to ensuring vital student services are available on every university campus.
