Say no to Whickham Academy School

At a recent meeting of the Governing body at Whickham Comp the Governors voted in favour by 10 - 2 of applying academy status at Whickham School. The decision has been taken without any meaningful consultation taking place with parents, pupils and other users.

The Public Service is concerned that this decision has been taken in haste, where there are massive implications for the future of Whickham School and other feeder schools.

All we are asking is that there is a pause in the move towards academy status and that an open consultation takes place, where all stakeholders are able to express their views on what is a very important decision for the future of the school. The decision needs to be democratic, open and transparent.
