The cemetery Jannatul Baqee ( МдЙ ЗбИЮнЪ ) means "The Garden of Heaven".
On April 21, 1925, mausoleums in Jannatul Baqee were demolished by King Abdul Aziz Al Saud. In the same year, he also demolished the tombs of holy personalities at Jannat al-Mualla (Makkah) where Muhammad's mother, wife, grandfather and other ancestors are buried. This happened despite protest by the international Islamic community.
the cemetery has been cornered off by walls, like a cage by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia not allowing Muslims access to this respected site, especially during the annual Hajj ceremony. Every Muslim has a right to Jannat al-Baqi and it is not only for the eyes of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
We the undersigned are calling on the re instatement of the shrines that were demolished and permission of visitation to the graves of the blessed ones. There is no humanitarian law that stipulates that it is a grave error to visit an area of historical significance, be that related to religious figures or not. There is nothing to suggest that the building of mausoleums causes detriment to human beings. We strongly condemn the knocking down of any religious monument, yet the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been freely allowed to pursue such an agenda.
We hereby plead to the United Nations to intervene and aid us in our protest otherwise barbaric acts like these will continue and eradicate the Islamic legacy and heritage whereby Muslims will have no affiliation with their religious history. we are a peace loving nation and belong to a religion that speads nothing but love and harmony towards fellow beings and want our generations to remain connected to our heritage and history enabling them to prosper as a community and play their part in becoming peace loving citizens of the world in general.
