Speeding on Hollycroft Estate

Given the condition of the car post-crash (photographs are available), it is obvious that the car was travelling at approximately 30mph when it hit the tree, fortunately bringing it to an abrubt halt. This demonstrates to the residents that, from where the skid began, the car must have been travelling in excess of 55-60mph before the driver lost control (it subsequently turns out that he has no license).
It is a miracle that nobody was injured or killed, either by the car itself or the thousands of glass shards from the rear window of the car when it exploded outwards after hitting the tree. However, we feel that it's only a matter of time before someone is killed on this road by one of the many young drivers who think it is clever to drive at high speed in a residential area. Most of these drivers actually live on the estate itself, but seem to think that it's their own personal racetrack.
This is not the first accident of this type on Roston Drive over the years so we, the undersigned, request that the Council take this seriously and install sufficient traffic calming measures in order to prevent a tragedy from happening before it's too late.
