Dear Department of Transportation,

We, the undersigned, feel that the strip-searching, backscanners and other technology that invades airline passengers' privacy are too much and going too far. While we understand the concern of safety, we find it unneccesary to strip ourselves and let strangers look at us naked. It is an invasion of privacy and it affects our emotional being. We also feel that the subject of seeing us naked is all about sex and not concerns about safety. Patting a person down or having them go through a metal detector should be enough. Even an x-ray that only shows metals, explosives or weapons should be enough, not to create an x-ray that lets airport security see passengers naked. Seeing someone naked is a personal issue and subject of privacy which is being invaded and making some people uncomfortable. Flying on airplanes should be a pleasant experience, not an embarrassment. What is pleasant about letting security see us naked? It is a form of sexual harassment and sexual abuse even if the security are not touching our bodies. It should be illegal to force people to strip or go through procedures that allow security to see passengers naked or touch their sensitive or private areas.

We have not had another attack since 9/11 so this is not necessary. Metal detectors can pick up metals and metallic weapons or explosives. X-ray scanners can pick up objects of any destiny and security can feel for anything suspicious with a simple pat-down. It is not neccessary for airline passengers to go through sexual harassment or abuse because of safety concerns. There are other available procedures to ensure safety in airports.

We ask that you stop the backscanners, strip-searching and techology that allows security to see passengers in the nude.

Thank you.
