Stop 'Hallelujah' from being an X-Factor Single

We the undersigned petition you to change the winner's song on this years X Factor to something different.

This year's X Factor winner will release a cover version of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'.

This song is art, it's history and it is special to a lot of people. We heard the best version in 1994 by Jeff Buckley who has since passed away.
Letting this year's winner release another cover of this song would be deeply inappropriate, disrespectful, and I for one strongly doubt they can do the song any justice.

We strongly ask you to simply choose a different song for this year's winning artist to cover.

183. Jacqui C | Handing this song to the X-Factor winner would cheapen a beautiful and poignant song. To sing Hallelujah with no understanding or respect for its meaning will lead to a soulless tacky money-spinner of a single. I guess thats the point, eh? Got number one
