Stop the Angels' Name Change

We, the loyal and dedicated fan base of the Angels baseball organization that is based in ANAHEIM, California, are offended by the recent decision to change the official name of the organization from the ANAHEIM ANGELS to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

We think that the new name is ridiculous. The team is NOT based in the city OR county of Los Angeles. Further, Los Angeles already has a baseball team named after it: the Los Angeles Dodgers. We think that it is asinine to have two teams that "belong" to Los Angeles when only one actually plays there.

We feel that the Angels organization is alienating its true fan base by denying the importance of the city of Anaheim and the county of Orange in the Angels' history. This decision to change the team's name is disrespectful to local fans who have been loyal to this organization for decades. We have stood by the Angels through thick and thin and now that we are able to share in the Angels' recent successes, we are shocked that the Angels organization is disloyal to us.

We call on the Angels organization to reconsider this thoughtless decision and to show respect to the dedicated local fan base by reversing this move to change the name of the ANAHEIM ANGELS.
