Stop The Rat Running Along Riggindale Road

We believe that the progressive implementation of numerous traffic management measures over time has led to the development of a dangerous rat run along Riggindale Road that is being increasingly heavily used by motor vehicles.
We believe that the current rat running is endangering cyclists along a dedicated cycle route, deterring the use of cycling, causing transport pollution and noise and endangering pedestrians and other road users.
We believe that implementing the no right turn will enhance cyclists safety along a dedicated cycle route, encourage more use of cycling and less car use, seek protection for residents from transport pollution and noise, promote road safety by appropriate traffic management and avoid the need for further costly traffic calming schemes, reduce danger to pedestrians, reduce the ill effects of traffic, assist in making cycling more attractive, eliminate a dangerous right turn in to Mitcham Lane A216 in close proximity to the brow of a bridge, move traffic to 'A'-roads and discourage traffic from the unclassified roads, meet the Council's objectives to enhance safety and convenience to cyclists, improve the environment, remove the rat run and direct traffic on to/ keep it on Mitcham Lane and Streatham High Road A23.
Furthermore, we believe that the implementation of a no right turn will obviate the need for vertical speed control measures which in themselves would endanger cyclists, cause pollution and have no impact on preventing the rat run along one of only three London Cycle Network routes within the Borough of Lambeth.
For these reasons we urge Lambeth Council to implement the proposed traffic management measure of a no right from Riggindale Road into Mitcham Lane.
