We, the undersigned, support ULUs student travel discount campaign to extend the 30\% discount on public transport to include single and one-day tickets.
Student travel patterns have changed dramatically over recent years and the current scheme no longer fully meets the needs of London students. The cost of buying single and one-day passes at the full rate prevents some students from accessing academic resources and facilities as required by their courses. This means that some students are being disadvantaged as they simply cannot afford the fare.
An extension of the student discount to include single and one-day travelcards will help to offset some of the costs of studying in one of the worlds most expensive cities. By reducing prohibitive travel costs, cheaper travel will also allow students to engage in a wide range of extra curricular activities such as volunteering, sport and enjoying Londons cultural facilities.
Last year we collected in excess of 5,000 signatures, and the signatures below will be added to those supporters. We will also be adding signatures collected by other means to this petition at the end of the campaign.
