Recently, at Blinn College (a junior college in TX), an attendance policy has been set into place that is unfair. They state, that if a student reaches 8 absences that they will be dropped from the class by the Administration Office. Not only is this not fair, but it does not make sense. Why punish everyone for Blinn's inability to control students that have scammed the financial aid office? Why punish everyone because a lot of kids drop and it reflects poorly on the school? This policy should only affect those students that have financial aid through Blinn, and perhaps that is even going too far. Blinn may need to set up a better policy for financial aid. I know other schools have attendance policies, but these policies do not affect those students that pay for it themselves, without help from the school. If you sign this petition you are saying that you should be held accountable for your grade, and if you feel like you do not need to attend, then Blinn does not have the right to drop you, especially when you've rocked the face off two of your last tests in the class you got four absences in and really could use an extra day or two to sleep in because you have to work almost full-time just so you can try to scrap up enough money to even attend college. Sorry, I got a little too into it there. If you sign this, it means one thing: Blinn needs to change their attendance policy immediately.
