Please sign this petition to show that students in Canterbury should get discounted bus fares!
Students should be ENCOURAGED to use alternative transport methods - for example the Metrobus service.
This IS a local government issue as Auckland have realised. In Auckland, MAXX Auckland Regional Transport has recently introduced student concessionary fares for ALL tertiary students. This gives the students 40\% OFF all public transport to recognise that students live off very low incomes (mostly borrowed!).
Palmerston North & Invercargill both offer FREE Buses to students. In Australia the major cities all offer concession rates (50\% off) to ALL tertiary students.
We are missing out in Canterbury!
