THE RATES TO RENT AN APARTMENT LOWERED BY 60\%

This petition is written in hopes of putting an end to the ridiculously high rates of renting an apartment.The amount of money people have to spend each month to live in an apartment is much too high. When the average person has to waste 40+ hours of their life for a paycheck and then hand over 2/3 of it just for a place to live, there is something seriously wrong!! The remaining 1/3 of the paycheck then has to be stretched between paying for utilities, phone, food, auto insurance (which we never voted for), gasoline,ect...





Here is how I figured out that people are paying 2/3 of their income on rent. Say someone is paid $8/hr. After taxes have been taken out, he/she is actually only making about $6.00/hr. Now $6.00 multiplied by the 160 hours a person works a month (40 hour/week) means a person brings home $960/month. Now with rents being around $500 for even a lousy 1-bed apartment. It comes out to about 2/3. It should be the other way around. We should be paying at most , 1/3 of our paycheck on rent.





So to the person(s) receiving this petition, signatures on this form are A DECLERATION THAT WE WANT THE RATES TO RENT AN APARTMENT LOWERED BY 60\%. We further feel that this is not an unreasonable demand. It will raise tenants quality of living while still allowing apartment owners to bring in a good amount of money.
