The request to the Red Chilli Restaurant chain to remove shark fin soup from it's menus

Shark fin soup is directly responsible for the inhumane practice of shark finning, the removal of fins from live sharks, who's bodies are then thrown back into the ocean where, unable to move, they either drown or are eaten by other marine animals...a death that can take days, sometimes weeks.
The shark fin trade is also directly responsible for the decimation of shark stocks worldwide. 100 million sharks are killed every year in order to provide a tasteless ingredient for a bowl of soup. Shark populations have been annihilated by up to 90\% in the last thirty years alone and with continued fishing of unsustainable stocks it is predicted that many shark species will become extinct within the next ten years.
The high levels of mercury in shark fins also present a real risk of cancer and other serious illness upon consumption.
The shark fin trade is second only to the illegal drugs trade in regards to illegal revenue generated and has direct links to the criminal underworld. Murder, extortion, drug trafficking and bribery are all heavily linked to the trade in shark fins.
By continuing to include shark fin soup on your menu, you are fully supporting this horrific trade.
Sharks are vital to the survival of our planet. By signing this petition, not only has each individual committed to boycotting the Red Chilli Restaurant chain and related businesses alongside advising others to do the same until you publicly announce the removal of shark fin from your menus, they have also committed their support to helping end the continued rape of our oceans.
Your failure to respond to this respectful request will be seen as a gesture that you continue to support an often illegal and environmentally catastrophic trade in shark fins.
