The Superspecs of Old and New

We, signees of this petition are the former and current fans of New Jersey's own Superspecs. The primary purpose of this petition is to show how many of us are upset and disappointed with the band's decision to abandon the genre of ska and start playing "rock with horns." Furthermore, we object strongly to the fact that the Superspecs play predominantly ska shows but, lack the ska that they should play at said shows. It is also a source of dismay for us that all of the band's promotional materials purposefully impuign the genre of ska which made them succssful in the first place, and is a genre of music we love.

In essence, we realize that the decision made by The Superspecs to abandon ska is fully their right to make. However, as current and former fans, we feel it is our duty to show how many of us really care about The Superspecs from the past. We'd much rather see thirteen guys in a band with no screaming and dancier tunes than the fad-driven sound that the band produces today.

We hope The Superspecs will make the decision that best suits them and realize that while in the short term their fan base has grown, their long term viability has been severly diminished. It is our desire to see The Superspecs bring the ska back and establish themselves as a powerhouse ska band once again.
