This area on Lake Shore Blvd. E was once known as the Woodbine & Greenwood Racetracks - it is no longer! It is now home to thousands of families, many with children. Additionally, thousands of residents from the Beach and the City of Toronto use the area. We are asking that the speed limit be reduced to 30 km/h, the typical speed for a roadway bordering parkland and in keeping with the neighbourhood.
After the death of one child and the numerous ‘close encounters’ that others have had on the stretch of road from Northern Dancer/Lakeshore (east & west bound) to Woodbine/Queen (north & south bound) in the city of Toronto, we believe that the time has come to make this environment safe.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to:
1) Reduce the speed limit to 30 km/h as behooves a residential/park area;
2) Install speed bumps to help enforce speed limit;
3) Enforce NO TRUCKS by-law;
4) Investigate the possibility of re-configuring Lake Shore Blvd E (fewer lanes) or diverting traffic.
