Town of Poughkeepsie Moratorium

Whereas an updated Master Plan for the Town of Poughkeepsie has been drafted and presented to the Town Board for consideration, but not yet adopted; and
Whereas zoning laws and regulations to implement this new Master Plan have not yet been drafted or adopted; and
Whereas in recent years development has occurred rapidly in the Town without adhering to sound principles of planning;


Now therefore, We, the undersigned residents of the Town of Poughkeepsie, call upon the Town Board to:

Immediately enact a moratorium on all commercial, industrial and residential development in the Town of Poughkeepsie, with the exception of residential parcels of one acre or less; said moratorium shall be in effect for one year or until the updated Master Plan and its implementing zoning laws and regulations have been enacted by the Town Board, which ever period is less.
