2. We as voting members of the state of South Carolina, being members and friends of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) constituents of the state, hereby ask that you affirm and uphold, resolution 13 as stated Resolved: That the South Carolina Democratic Party, is committed to equal treatment under the law for all citizens, opposes any amendments to the Constitution of the state of South Carolina that codifies discrimination in any form. We believe that family issues like good parenting, hospital visitation, and shared benefits are family business, regardless of gender, and should not be limited by the state Constitution. Recognizing that the leading Fortune 500 companies provide partner benefits to employees, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, therefore: the South Carolina Democratic Party opposes the 2006 Marriage Amendment to the state Constitution. It is further resolved that the South Carolina Democratic Party shall refer to the ballot question as the Family Discrimination Amendment
3. Whereas, we the members and friends of the GLBT community pledge not to vote for any candidate in either the primary or the general election who does not uphold our belief that any form of discrimination is just plain wrong. Further be it resolved that we will only vote in the general election on November 7, 2006, our NO vote to the Discrimination Amendment.
