Niagara Health System...A Financial Drain on the Taxpayers of Niagara
Whereas the Niagara Health System has the highest Operating Deficit in the Province of over 18.9 Million Dollars
Whereas the NHS has a Capital Deficit of over 100 Million Dollars
Whereas the Provincial Health Ministry has increased the budget of NHS by 43\% over the last six years with no positive results.
Whereas in 2004 34 staff of NHS made over $100,000 and in 2008 there were 169 employees making over $100,000
Whereas we find the salaries of NHS Management staff to be an exorbitant burden on the Taxpayers of Niagara including the salary of CEO Debbie Sevenpiffer of $355,053.47 in 2008.
Whereas the new Hospital will cost over 1.5 Billion Dollars over a 30 year period.
Whereas the Taxpayers of Niagara through the Region will be paying for expropriation of 14 Houses, massive infrastructure costs and road construction.
Whereas the Taxpayers of Niagara are being additionally charged over 3 Million Dollars for Ambulance Service for Port Colborne and Fort Erie because NHS closed their Emergency Rooms
THEREFORE We find the NHS incapable of prudent financial management and request of the Ministry of Health a full investigation and the appointment of an interim SUPERVISOR while such an investigation is undertaken.
