To: City of Los Angeles Community Development Department

People against the demolition of the Hollywood Regency and construction of a three-story condo building in its place.

Attention Mayor, City Council Members, City Planning Department and all other interested persons and offices of said municipality.

Whereas: The City of Los Angeles can have a bright future if it capitalizes on its rich collection of potentially valuable historic buildings, which can be an integral part of a renaissance;

Be it resolved: That the undersigned residents of the city of Los Angeles and other concerned people having an interest in the preservation of 7924-40 Hollywood Blvd strongly hereby oppose development of 7924-40 Hollywood Blvd. and request the City of Los Angeles Planning Dept. and/or Community Development Department to deny any proposals for this development, for the following reasons:

1. To preserve the beauty of the region.
2. To honor the City of Los Angeles master plan of 40 years to control growth.
3. To preserve the safe, small-town feel of our community.
4. To restrict excessive traffic and noise impacts to homeowners and commuters on Hollywood Blvd and Laurel Canyon.
5. To preserve an active and significant Hollywood community.
6. To acknowledge the voters' highest priority of preserving rent control!!

Originally built in 1958 the former Regency Plaza Suites, now Regency Apts. is the last example of mid century modern hotel on Hollywood Blvd. Since its opening, it has sat proudly on its location, a magnet for celebrities in the entertainment community, but today it is up for demolition. We want the City of Los Angeles, to halt the demolition immediately and permanently, and have the hotel/ residential apartments saved for future use.

We, the undersigned, believe that the demolition of the Regency and its neighboring building would radically alter the laid-back feel and unique community it provides as well as threaten and displace renters throughout the area. Instead of discarding the very people who have worked hard to help revitalize emerging neighborhoodsplease refrain from demolishing the Regency.

We, the undersigned, do not support the approval of any building permit which would require the demolition of the Hollywood Regency and STRONGLY URGE city officials to stop its demolition.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned
