This petition is the help get one of the most underrated, and underlooked, films of modern cinema a dvd release. Wrestling Earnest Hemingway stars the late, great Richard Harris, the magnificent Robert Duvall, the illustrious Shirley MacLaine, the comical Piper Laurie, and the up-and-coming (at the time) Sandra Bullock. After watching this film, one can't help wondering where there Oscar nominations were for these performances.
Please, help get this hidden gem of a film on to DVD and get the treatment it deserve -- such as a widescreen presentation and any extras that would benefit the dvd. Just to hear Robert Duvall with a spot-on Cuban accent, alone, is worth the price of this dvd.
Although this movie touches up on some poignant issues such as friendship, loneliness, and old age, it's timeless portrayal of two elderly men -- who couldn't be any more different than each other -- allows you to smile and laugh, in between some of the proverbial tear-shedding. (I'm a grown guy, for pete's sake, and I couldn't hold back that one measly tear that managed to escape from my tear ducts). This is a film that only comes around once in a great while. Let this movie pass on from one generation to the next.
