A Request for a Change of English Cast in the Up-and-Coming Hellsing OVA

Dear Geneon,

We, the undersigned, are dedicated fans of the Hellsing anime/manga series who speak English as their native tongue. We are familiar with the English dub of the first Hellsing TV series, and feel the English voice actors you used did not do justice to their Japanese seiyuu counterparts, nor did they come close to capturing the essence of the characters whose voices they were supposed to portray.

With the new, promising Hellsing OVA on the horizon, we feel this is a perfect opportunity for us to voice our opinion on, and hopefully correct, what we feel was the biggest mistake of the previous series: the cast used in Hellsing's English dub.

We strongly believe that you should replace, if not the entire original English cast of the first Hellsing TV series, at least Crispin Freeman in the part of Alucard, and Steven Brand in the part of Father Alexander Anderson.

Crispin Freemans performance as Alucard not only sounded drab and unimaginative in comparison to Nakatas, but also forced and unnatural, subsequently producing the opposite effect that Nakata brought to the parta more nefarious, sinister interpretation, perfectly befitting a vampiric character as malevolent and bloodthirsty as Alucard.

Additionally, Steven Brand played Father Alexander Anderson as a calm, illogically Scottish, and rather toned down individual, not anything like the original character, as portrayed by Nachi Nozawawhose Anderson was frenzied, vibrant and alive, and encompassed everything an overzealous Catholic assassin was meant to be.

While both voice actors have shown the ability to fit more suitably in anime roles, other than Hellsing, which better suit their vocal range/styles, they simply did not capture the exquisite, original performances of Jouji Nakata and Nachi Nozawa. Thus, as a result, they ruined the characters they portrayed, as well the experience of watching Hellsing in English.

If you insist on bringing back and casting these two performers in the roles of Alucard and Alexander Anderson again, we can assure you that you will undoubtedly lose a lot of potential business to online fan-subs and other alternate sources (e.g. bootlegs, etc.) that use only the original Japanese dialogue, because we, the fans, simply will not support or buy such an inadequate, inferior English version of Hellsing a second time around.

We, the devoted fans of Hellsing, most respectfully request that you do not give Crispin Freeman another chance to ruin a character as great as Alucard, or Steven Brand the opportunity to do the same to the role of Alexander Anderson.
