This Petition is in response to Bill 132.
We, The Undersigned here by join our voices in union, to state that BSLalso known as Breed Specific Legislation is not an option.
Hundreds of thousands of people own these types of breeds and havenever had a problem, there is a extremely small percentage who have.
One of the specific breeds in question, the American Pit Bull Terrierhas been misconstrued by the media repeatedly. Everyday there is a newsstory that implicates the "pit bull". 90\% of the dogsimplicated areNOT "pit bulls".
We need legislation to make the owners responsible for the actions ofdogs that bite in all dog breeds, not just those the media 'hypes' fornews stories.
We the undersigned would like to see legislation and laws put intoplace that will do the following:
1. Charge owners of 'vicious' dogs with criminal charges. Thesecharges can include manslaughter if a death occurs. This will notlimit theproblems of vicious dogs to ONLY 'Pit Bull' Type dogs.
2. Higher fines to these same people.
3. Criminal charges and jail time for people that knowingly breed andsell dogs that are deemed vicious by actions.
4. Criminal charges and jail time for people that abusedogs/cats/other animals.
5. Allow those parties that have been injured to sue the offendingowners of the dogs in question.
We advocate - Zero tolerance on Animal Abuse charges.
We advocate - Zero Tolerance with Aggressive animals.

I own 2 pitbulls and they are the best family pets I have ever had..I also have 2 children and 1 on the way and I wouldnt trust any other dog around my children except my 2 pitbulls..This ban makes me sick

Bill 132 was drafted as a hysteric reaction to a few unfortunate incidents involving dog attacks. The bill is poorly written; and is NOT based on any studies, research or statistics....and it is NOT supported by any knowledgable group or canine expert.

BSL will not stop the problems. Why are you punishing the dogs which are a product of their owners teaching, when you should punish the owner who allowed and taught the behavior in the first place. All this will do is force owner of dogs who behave this w
