Amend the dangerous dogs act in scotland

Hello, my name is Martin Costello, and along with my partner Christina, we would ask you to read the following.

We own an American pit bull terrier called Bailey, he is 2 years old. He is full of life and a very happy dog, tail constantly going. Happy to meet everyone! He is not a loud dog, very seldom barks. He shows no animosity towards other animals (well maybe the odd cat, but doesnt every dog?) he adores kids, and my son and him get on great. Bailey is a very nervous dog, and is very easily frightened. Although he is very boisterous and agile, he isnt aggressive in any way shape or form!!!! You may be wondering why I am telling you all of this?

Because he is illegal!!

APBTs are specifically named in the dangerous dogs act, according to this act, Bailey shall not be sold, bred from, given as a gift or accepted as a gift. He must be neutered, muzzled and on a harness at all times while in public (doesnt this add to the stigma of a hard looking dog?)

We are not trying to get rid of this act, just amend it, to reflect the real dangerous dogs. I personally know a miniature poodle that is more likely to b aggressive towards you. The act states the above stipulations apply to bulls so why arent Staffordshires or English bulls forced to be muzzled, neutered etc??

We ask if you own a dog, or even if you dont, help us to make our dog legal. APBTS are not a registered breed either.
