An Open Letter to the Tragically Hip

With the impending World Cup of Hockey, we, your fellow Canadians, need a song to unite us. It needs to be loaded with rock sensibilities and Canadiana. It needs a chorus with which we can all sing along.

We need an anthem that transcends regional rivalries and brings us together, if only until the song concludes.

We need a song that reminds us hockey is our game; always has been, always will be.

Other than Stompin' Tom's classic there's nothing worth hockey fans making the effort to learn. We all love the Hockey Night in Canada theme, but need words to inspire us -- words we can sing with one strong, proud voice.

We need a band thats proven its passion for game and country. We need you, the Tragically Hip, to record a song for Canadian Hockey fans.
