Auto Insurance In Canada

I am an 18 year old male, residing in Ont, Canada. Working, studying, and enjoying my last years of teenage-hood. I thought to cap off my last teen years I would like to buy a car, and travel. Unfortunately, this is not the case, seeing as insurance prices are outrageously high. Online quotes told me that I would be paying about $340 a month, half my salary in a month, which I planned on using for paying off my car.

Now, I understand the need for insurance, and why it is expensive. But what really gets my fired up is that female drivers pay less than males. (No offense to the ladies... but Im sure if males paid less you would be just as irate)

Statistics say that male drivers/young drivers cause more accidents... But I say screw statistics! Why can't an individual prove themselves worthy or not before people start to assume that because they're young and a male means that they are a bad driver?

I find that insurance companies and brokers are very stereotypical and judgmental.

I don't know what I, personally can do about this, I'm sure if we all band together and work towards proving that this is not O.K, someone is bound to listen.
