Most of the latest riots and general gang problems are caused by lack of discipline in the home and in schools. By bringing back conscription we could kill 2 birds with one stone - lower the huge amount of money paid out by our government in unemployment to young people (boys & girls) and teach these hooligans about respect, manners and how to behave like civilized people instead of a mindless mob.
It could also cut down the number of young people in prison for minor crimes - give them the option to go to the army for 2 years instead of prison.
I believe this would be a step forward for the whole country it would break up the gangs, teach discipline and get the teenagers (who seem to be the biggest offenders) off the streets.
