Petition against Clear Channel Communications, Inc., to bring KEGL 97.1 Back to Dallas Radio
We, the citizens of the Dallas/Ft Worth listening area, are requesting that KEGL (the Eagle) 97.1 be put back on the air. We feel that KEGL 97.1 in it's previous rock music format was the best music offered in Texas. It also had the best DJ's in Texas including the award winning local favorite Cindy Scull. Besides airing music that listeners in this area wanted to hear, it also provided a showcase for local talent (Robert Miguel's Local Show) that is not offered by any other station. We feel that the music, the DJ's, and shows, featured an institution unique to Dallas. By removing this format a piece of North Texas culture, history, and local flavor was removed. We don't want to be subjected to Clear Channel's cookie cutter formats that are the same nationwide with no regard to listener preference, local culture and issues. We want our rock station to support the local Dallas music scene. By signing this petition we are expressing our outrage at the monopolistic practices and corporate greed that motivated the removal of the Eagle. We are also stating that from this time forward we are boycotting products and services that are advertised on any Clear Channel broadcasting networks in the D/FW area until 97.1 KEGL - The Eagle is put back on the air. This includes advertisers of all Clear Channel stations in the D/FW area which include 102.1 The Edge, 102.9 Mix, 97.1 Sunny 97, 1190 AM Fox Sports, 106.1 KISS FM, and 92.5 KZPS Classic Rock.
