Campaign for Turkish membership in the EU

We, the people, friends and citizens of Europe, declare here our firm support to the Turkish plans to join the European Union.

We believe that:

- Turkey is culturally, economically and socially part of Europe.
- Turkey now has a stable and reliable economy. (acc. World Bank)
- Turkey is a European country, it is member of every European Organization except the EU
- Turkeys average annual income is far above countries which recently joined EU (acc. buying parity, World Bank)
- Turkey has improved it's Human Rights Record significantly and has met the Copenhagen Criteria of EU itself. (Source: EU)
- Turkey supports reunification of Cyprus, even though Greek Cypriots are in favor of status quo.


We believe that the Turkish membership will help our Union:

- The integration process will provide more jobs.

- The European Feeling will reach new highs as Europeans will then be proud to be the only group in the world to be non-racist.

- The whole Muslim population living already in the EU will feel that they are included, this will promote better integration and ownership.

- Unemployment will fall as Turkey's 72 million strong market will be fully integrated to EU.

- We will have a better share of EU money, as we'll redesign aid to really needed areas of EU. (Not subsidising needless farming for example)

- Turkey will add a positive balance to the decision making process in the EU, making sure that small countries voices are heard loud and clear.

- Turkey is the only solution to our security issues in the 21st century. It is the only country with Muslim majority and European Values.


European leaders have all the democratic legitimacy to start accession negotiations with Turkey. European citizens are for it.

European leaders will be violating international law by NOT starting accession negotiations. All European documents, aggreements, treaties with Turkey give a full membership candidacy to Turkey for more than 40 years. And recent agreements state that Turkey has met Copenhagen criteria, has met all other requisites, and negotiations will start.

We, the citizens of Europe, call our leaders to accept Turkey as a member.

We know that Turkey has rejected "ANYTHING" less than full membership, it is useless to offer "privileged partnership" to a country who has already said that it is refusing it.

We do not want to lose the already acquired economic benefit of Customs Union Integration with Turkey. This is creating jobs in EU, and we know that Turkey will stop Customs Union with the EU if it does not become a full member.

So, we say YES to Turkish Full Membership.
Turks are Europeans.
We want to see Turkey as part of EU.
