Cerebral Palsy Research

We found out three months ago that our daughter had a stroke in the womb. There are no specific tests for cerebal palsy we did not find out until she was 18 months old. We were very lucky to be seen by an excellent pediatric neurologist who suspected that she had a stroke. He sent her for an M.R.I. to confirm his hunch. The results showed that she did have a stroke which was caused by a blocked vessel in her brain. We don't know why this happened and neither do the doctors, which is why we want there to be more research on the cause and prevention. She had a brace to wear on her foot and one for her hand. She goes to physical and occupational therapy regularly but there is no cure for brain damage. We can't imagine our daughter growing up with a disability like this, and us being helpless to do anything about it. This is where research for new treatments (and hopefully someday a cure) is needed.

That is why we have started this petition: in hopes that if we show that there are enough people in this world that care about this cause that you will spend more time and money on research.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and take this into consideration on behalf of our daughter, Lindsey, and all the other children in the world just like her.
