Champlain College St-Lambert: Do Not Close Your DEC Program in Huntingdon

Hello,
My name is Grace and I am a student enrolled into Champlain College St-Lambert's DEC program in Huntingdon, which opened its door to our community two years ago. I am part of the first group of students to start this program and I have one more semester left to finish my studies. A second group started their studies last year and will finish by the end of 2014, and a third group of students has already submitted their applications and count on Champlain to start their college education this Fall.
However, there is disturbing news that just reached our town: Champlain College St-Lambert has started the process of withdrawing from Huntingdon. We learned that the two existing groups will finish their studies, but the third group will be turned away.
Please help me stop this! Our community is small, remote and located in an area that, economically, has seen better days. The average level of education is not very high and reaching college-level studies has been a tough feat for kids growing up here. That is why the opening of Champlain's DEC program in our town has been such a blessing for the community, not just in Huntingdon, but the whole area.
That is also why Champlain College St-Lambert should keep its program in Huntingdon open and give more students the wonderful opportunity that was given to me. At the very least, the program shouldn't close before the third group of students have been given the education they count on. Turning them away now, after most college application deadlines have expired, would amount to a stab in the back.
Please sign my petition and help me and my community send a clear message to the Administration of Champlain College St-Lambert: Do not close the door on us! Do not close your campus in Huntingdon! At the very least, give the third group of our students the college education they counted on!
Sincerely,
Grace Stevenson Student Social Science DEC program Huntingdon, Québec
