By signing this Petition, I am adding my voice to those of other Canadians supporting the Ontario Provincial Police Associations call to amend to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act.
The senseless killing of Provincial Constable Tom Coffin directly illustrates why the families left behind should be considered in the decision of where an inmate is placed.
Allan MacDonald currently awaits transfer from a maximum security facility to a medium security facility directly adjacent to the widow and children left behind by this killing.
We are calling upon legislators to change this act so that when deciding on the place of an inmates incarceration, the victim, or victims, of that crime are taken into consideration.
