TO: Eden City Council
We, the undersigned of Eden, believe that chickens should be allowed to be in the city limits and that chickens should be allowed outside and not kept inside the owners residence, for the following reasons:
*Chickens control pests and weeds
*Increases local food security by providing delicious and healthy eggs that are not full of hormones and antibiotics.
*Waste reduction(table scraps and garden waste can be fed to chickens)
*A PROPERLY cleaned and maintained chicken coop is no threat to sanitation.
*Increases self-sufficiency and inter-dependency within our community.
*Educates children about food sources.
*Rich fertilizer by-product increases garden health.
*Chickens can not be humanely keep inside a persons home with out risking the health of the people and the chickens.
*Bringing chickens inside will not stop the noise. They will be closer to neighbors and cause more of a nuisance
*Chickens are not as loud as dogs.
*Dogs bark at all hours of the day and night. Chickens are only active during the day and make NO noise and night.

Soon we are going to be in a full blown depression & keeping chickens may save some people from starving. What is next, cant have a tomato garden cause it is unsightly?

First you wanta keep chickens inside, what's next? No more chicken jokes! besides, how can the chicken cross the road if he's inside. I think this world would (Eden included) starve to death if chickens went on strike and quit laying eyes.

I THINK IT WOULD BE NOT ONLY CRAZY BUT DISGUSTING TO HAVE TO KEEP CHICKENS INT HE HOUSE. WHO EVER THOUGHT OF SUCH MESS AS THAT ! DO THEY NOT HAVE ANYTHING ELSE BETTER TO WORRY ABOUT THAN CHICKENS!!

I live in Reidsville and we cant have chickens but, its been this way for years. At the present time you can have chickens in Eden why take this right away from the people just because of a few neighbor complaints. A barking dog is alot worse than chicken

Leave the people alone. The way times are one day you might have to ask for some of the chickens. Some people have this chicken as a way of making money to feed their families.

i WOULD RATHER SEE OUR YOUTH INTRESTED IN RASING CHICKENS THAN BE ON THE STREETS GETTING INTO TROUBLE.
