CMT- Bring Back Real Country

I've started this petition because it's time to do something about CMT. I will try to cover everything, but the station has done so much wrong I know I'll end up forgetting something.

I) The Grand Ole Opry. Every night we lose two performances because Katie Cook is smiling a wide smile at the camera and pretending to have knowledge about country music. I've seen her be corrected many times, she clearly doesn't know much. I would much rather be watching the performances. The Opry used to be a staple of traditional country. Clearly CMT has been messing with it. On a night when they had real artists playing, the televised portion showed SHeDAISY!

II) Programs. The only good CMT shows have been dropped for shows like MWL, which is not what is "Most Wanted" by anyone who cares for real country. The only programs I like have been replaced, now they're even showing infomercials overnight! The station is supposed to be playing country music videos, right? So why do we have movie days? There's so much programming and little videos shown. When videos are shown, it's the same old videos over and over anyway.

III) The playlist. CMT is putting way too much time into playing the same 12 videos over and over that they have overlooked all the good ones. They say they're playing young country, which (their words) is what every country fan wants to hear. Couldn't be further from the truth! And if they're playing what viewers want, why do they get so many e-mails from fans complaining about their playlist. They'll get dozens of requests for videos that are actually country, but the response is always "he/she doesn't fit our playlist." How else are we supposed to see and hear these artists if CMT refuses to play them? They're the only station playing country videos, and they know it, so it doesn't matter what they play, they know when someone wants to see a country video they have to tune in to CMT. But what they play isn't country, now I don't know where to turn to hear country other than my CD player.

Please do something; it's gone too far. If Neal McCoy is too country for country music, then something is seriously wrong. Get rid of MWL, replace Katie Cook on the Opry with someone who knows something about country music, and play country music videos! There was music before 1996, so play those videos. It's gone too far, somebody needs to take a step to bring country music back.

So CMT claims they're playing what every country fan wants to hear? If you don't think they are, please take the time to sign this petition and let them know they're wrong.
