Deiseb Achubwch Amgueddfa ac Oriel Gwynedd / Save Gwynedd Museum & Art Gallery

Yr ydym yn gwrthwynebun chwyrn y cynnig gan Gyngor Gwynedd i dynnu cyllid oddi ar Amgueddfa ac Oriel Gwynedd, Bangor a fydd yn arwain yn anorfod at gaur lle.
Bydd casgliadau unigryw o hynafiaethau, gwaith celf, dodrefn a thecstiliau Cymreig yn cael eu gwasgaru, y tu allan i Wynedd o bosib, gan eu colli am byth o olwg y cyhoedd. Ni fydd cyfle wedyn i bobl leol nac ymwelwyr gael mynediad yn rhad ac am ddim i ddysgu am eu hanes cymdeithasol Cymreig eu hunain au diwylliant materol a chael eu hysbrydoli ganddynt. Maer Oriel yn rhoi cyfle prin i artistiaid arddangos eu gwaith ac maen lleoliad pwysig i sicrhau bod gan bawb yng Ngwynedd gyfle i werthfawrogi celfyddyd.
Mae gan Cyngor Gwynedd a Phrifysgol Bangor gyfrifoldeb i gydweithio i sicrhau dyfodol treftadaeth celf a diwylliannol Gwynedd a darparu mynediad i bawb iddo. Mae Amgueddfa ac Oriel Gwynedd, Bangor yn adnodd cenedlaethol a lleol hanfodol i sir Gwynedd.


We strongly object to the proposal by Gwynedd Council to withdraw funding from the Gwynedd Museum & Art Gallery, Bangor which will result in its closure.
Unique collections of antiquities, Welsh furniture, art and textiles will be separated, possibly dispersed outside Gwynedd; some being lost to the public for good. Local people and visitors will no longer have free access and the opportunity to learn and be inspired by their own past and material and artistic culture. The Art Gallery is a welcoming space for artists to exhibit their work and is an important venue for events that ensure that everyone in Gwynedd can enjoy the arts.
Gwynedd Council and Bangor University have a shared responsibility to safeguard and ensure free public access to Gwynedds artistic and cultural heritage. The Museum & Art Gallery, Bangor is an asset to the county of Gwynedd of local and national significance.
