Dear Chair of ENEB and Board Members,
Once again Ethiopia is at a crossroad and history has placed a huge responsibility at your doorstep. You have the key to help Ethiopia to step into democracy through a peaceful transition or slid back in to chaos and cycle of violence.
You are mandated by the constitution to uphold your independence and speak your mind.
By the power vested on you by Proclamation No. 111/1995 and amended by Proclamation No. 438/2005 you have the power to rectify electoral irregularities and investigate complaints submitted to you. You can cancel election results and order fresh elections where there have been violations of directives or fraudulent acts
As the European Union observers have made it clear we have a reason to believe that you have lost the ballot counting process under influence of government cadres.
That is why we appeal to your conscience to do what is right rather than submit to intimidation or bribery of the ruling party to kill the last change of peaceful transition in Ethiopia.
Acting with your clear conscience to defend votes of millions of Ethiopian people will grant you a lasting place in Ethiopian history. Failing to do so will not only make you accountable under the law of the land but also responsible for sending Ethiopia in to chaos.
Eventually the truth will come out. Sooner or later some honourable individuals form electoral board or the government side will come to expose what had happened behind closed doors. That is why we appeal to you to stand up and call for re-election of constituencies where irregularity was recorded.
We assure you we Ethiopians in Diaspora and the international community will stand with you when you speak your mind.
