We, the undersigned Americans, from all walks of life, status, and political bias do believe that the current Electoral system for the selection of the President of the United States is, in essence, malfunctioning. We beleive that the Electoral system needs to be modified so that all States have the same Electoral weight, with each State being worth 8 Electoral Votes; and that the District of Columbia shall be worth 2 Electoral votes. The needed number of Electoral votes to obtain the presidency under this method is 202, as opposed to the current 270.
We feel that this will make every state "equals" in the overall scope of the elections to come, keeping certain states from garnering undue influence on the election, and forcing candidates to spend their time more equally rather than just going to the large-value battleground states.
We feel that this should be in place for the 2012 elections.
