Endorse Barack Obama

Dear Governor Vilsack,


We recently learned that you have made the difficult decision to end your campaign for the 2008 Democratic nomination for President. The diversity and merit of this race will be lessened as a result of this. You brought numerous achievements and policy ideas to the campaign and we are more than grateful.

As Governor of Iowa, you expanded pre-school access and healthcare for young children. You worked diligently to improve the educational system by lowering class sizes and boosting test scores. Due to your vision and leadership, Iowa now uses more ethanol and alternative fuels-- fuels which help reduce carbon emissions and fight global warming. Your efforts to restrict over-the-counter access to psuedoephedrine and other potentially harmful substances increased the safety and health of many people.

On the campaign trail you were an awesome advocate for common-sense policies aimed at cleaning up the mess the Bush administration has made these past six years. Without a doubt, Iraq is the most critical issue of our generation. In his rush to war, President Bush has wasted billions of dollars, sacrificed thousands of lives, and squandered Americas goodwill in the world. You have wisely called for us to begin withdrawing the troops, so we can minimize the harm of this war and this speaks very highly of your ability to lead.

Although you have left the race, you still have a huge role to play in deciding whom the Democrats nominate for President. We are asking you to endorse Barack Obama as he champions the causes of the American people. You are both visionary leaders who can help America fulfill its great promises to people here at home and within the larger international community. You were both among the first to see the foolishness of this war, and you are both calling on America to do the only responsible thing and redeploy our troops. Together, we can make a real difference, not just in this election cycle, but in the long term. Your support of Barack Obama can ensure the accomplishment of the progressive goals you have stood for during your distinguished years of service. Lets take back our country!
