(Quoted from my sister, Jacqueline Leung)The idea is: Ordering a hot beverage to go from Tim Hortons is served in a double-cup. This practice wastes more paper than needed and hence contributes to heaping sum of garbage accumulating in our landfills. Its competitors, Starbucks and Second cup, both see this problem, and has at the least come up with an interim solution of the more environmentally preferred coffee sleeve. (http://www.environmentaldefense.org/documents/523_starbucks.pdf ). This reduces paper waste and supply costs and has also aided Starbucks and Second cup in creating a more socially responsible image. With all these positive reasons to do it, why doesn't Tim Hortons' also do it? Why doesn't Tim Hortons make a proactive change to reduce their amount of paper waste? Thus we would like Tim Hortons to eliminate the double cup and at the least replace it with a coffee sleeve. Therefore part of the plan is to research further into Tim Hortons' social responsibility in terms of the environment, and challenge them to take on a more proactive role in reducing paper waste by using coffee sleeves instead of the double cup.Sign this petition if you want to agree that Tim Horton's should stop double-cupping. Thanks for your support. Let's hope we can make a difference.
