Equal Time for all Presidential Candidates

On Wednesday, October 6th President George W. Bush is giving a major speech on the war on terrorism and the economy. White House press secretary Scott McClellan has been quoted as stating There has been an attempt by the president's opponent to launch false attacks and mislead the American people on these big priorities. Which indicates that this speech is in response to the current campaign for the Presidency of the United States.

While it is very acceptable for any news organization to carry such a Presidential presentation as news, it is quite clear that this is not a newsworthy event, but the actions of the White House to use the bully pulpit to allow the President a campaign platform to offset the loss of momentum in the Presidents current bid for re-election.

We are petitioning your news organization to allow Presidential candidate Senator John Kerry equal time to make a presentation on the same subjects to the same audience at a later date, but prior to November 2nd. While we know that the FCCs Fairness Doctrine is no longer in place, but to allow such partisan use of the nations airwaves without providing equal time for the other candidate is blatantly unfair and unequal.
