Airmiles have announced that their scheme is being merged with BA and Iberia to form a new rewards scheme called Avios.
They're saying they will take each Airmile we have and multiply it by 10. This sounds great, until you click through to their website (http://www.airmiles.co.uk/avios/details) and read the details.
On AIRMILES you would need 10,000 airmiles to get to Australia. That's 10,000 miles and nothing else. On AVIOS you need 100,000 Avios (which is the same as 10,000 miles) but we have to pay airline taxes, fees and surcharges. Looking at BA.com these extra charges are approximately £484.93 to £497.13
The new scheme is a scam and an insult to loyal customers who have spent and saved for years to get quality deals. The selling point of Airmiles, that which made it different from the other schemes, was it's inclusivity of charges. These changes are demoralising and a kick in the stomach.
We would like any and all those who are impacted by this change to sign our petition. We don't want Aimiles to become just another frequent flyer scheme.
